you are what you eat.

I know you know the old adage, “You are what you eat” right?

Well, I have come to believe that statement is a bit misleading. The truth is more accurately stated: “You are what you consume.” When you look at it this way, the aperture opens up, the spotlight broadens, the greater context becomes clearer, and so does our understanding of what this really means.

So yes, let us begin with the saying we know: “You are what you eat.” When we consider that food is really the fuel that we are putting into our bodies, just like we put gas in our cars, then it would make sense to conclude that the quality of fuel (food) would have a direct impact on the way that the vehicle (the body) is operating. When we provide good, clean, nutrient-dense foods that are free of harmful chemicals and pesticides, the body’s systems run better. This might seem obvious, but would you believe that doctors are only required to take ONE SEMESTER of nutrition during their (8 years of??) medical school?!? It’s true, and it blows my mind! I didn’t learn this until I worked in the medical industry as a Medical Assistant, where I learned all kinds of surprising things about the industry. The irony is: doctors take the “Hippocratic Oath” but it was Hippocrates who believed that Food is medicine. “Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,” is the specific quote, according to the internet. Seems a little Hippo-critical- don’t you think?? (I’m slapping my own knee over here. Single mom’s gotta make dad jokes and laugh at them by herself.) But for real, doctors only have to learn about food if they are inspired to do so themselves, and then: where to begin? There is so much conflicting information out there about diet and nutrition: it’s no wonder we are so sick! (Not to mention we each have a unique design, so there is no one size fits all when it comes to health, and allopathic is just a way to make money), but let’s move beyond that now before I digress too far and slip down the rabbit hole of the medical-industrial complex.

Back to the topic: Let’s take a look at what else we are consuming. What are we consuming? Television, news, lovesick music songs, sports, sweets, red meats, soda, alcohol, marijuana, pharmeceuticals…ummmmmm….water? Water is good, right?

Indeed, water is good! And also, water isn’t as straight forward as it used to be. These days, there’s microplastics in almost everything, and, unfortunately, not all water is created the same. Recently I have learned there is a lot that is hidden (and even not-so-hidden) in the water. And in this case, what you don’t know CAN hurt you, and in fact, it IS hurting you, (maybe even giving you cancer or arthritis, or worse)! Things are not as they appear to be, and in this blog, we are going to reveal some hard(water) truths and take a look at some better options for our water consumption. (Enter, Kangen Water) Ready to take the blue bottle- I mean, blue pill??

DISCLAIMER: Once you read past this point, there is no turning back! DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!

Okay, you are still here with me for this rabbit hole. Let’s dive into the depths of the unseen realms of water!!!

First things first: find out what is in your city water supply at the EWG Water Database. Many cities report having cancer causing agents in their water supplies. When I tested my water for total solids (that means stuff that was in my water that literally was not water, but solid particles of stuff- all kinds of stuff- it was almost 30% solids!!! That means only 2/3 of what I was drinking was actually water. Blech! They also put chlorine and fluoride, along with other things in the water. Do you know about chlorine??? Chlorine is a KNOWN CARCINOGEN. It kills everything it touches. That is why they put it in the water- it kills everything. That is why they put it in the pools: to kill everything. And when we use it to disinfect, it is because it kills everything. And then we… drink it, swim in it and bathe in it, cook with it, give it to our babies and fur babies… What’s worse? It absorbs through the skin almost instantaneously! See it for yourself in this 3 Minute Chlorine Absorbtion Demo

So, you get where I am going with this: If you care about your health, you now see that water filtration is an essential element of good health!!!

Second: Check the pH of your water. Disease thrives in and acidic body environment, and MOST potable and bottled water tests acidic, even many “spring” and artesian bottled waters don’t pass the pH test. This means that these waters are all CONTRIBUTING to creating a disease loving environment in the body. Yes, it is true, alkaline water is trending and can now be found on the shelves of your local grocery store or gas station, but those waters simply have sodium bicarbonate in them, which is NOT the same as alkalized water. Sodium Bicarbonate, or baking soda, is a chemical additive, which can build up in the body and create alkalosis. Alkalized water, on the other hand, goes through an electrolysis process to negatively charge and restructure the water, elevating its pH in the process. If you wanna see the difference for yourself, check out this quick straw test video (you might want to turn down the volume. The sound is distracting, but the demo is good!)

This brings me to my third point: Check the ORP of your water. The ORP is the oxidative potential of the water, meaning how much potential the water has to speed up the aging and disease processes in the body. This is the most important thing. If you only take one thing away from this post. Let this be it. It is the difference between the charge and structure of the molecules of the water that, ultimately, determines whether the water is “dead water” or “living water" and whether or not it has the ability to revitalize the body at the cellular level. It is this that puts Kangen Water in a class of its own. See how Kangen compares to other drinking water options on the market in this mind-blowing 15-minute comparison demo!
